The Javelot series recently welcomed a new member, Javelot. In the past, Olight has produced several types of Javelot flashlights, such as Javelot Mini, Javelot Pro, and Javelot Turbo. Today I will compare the Javelot and the Javelot Mini, Olight long range flashlight.
Javelot VS Javelot Mini Comparison
Before you buy a flashlight, you must first figure out what you need!
Please think:
What types of activities do you typically use a flashlight for?
Do you need long-distance lighting or are you more focused on portability?
Well,
First, let me talk about my first impressions when I first got the Javelot, it looks like a great spotlight! Especially for security purposes, if you are a security guard or need to guard some kind of place and need something like powerful long-distance lighting that looks great with a beam, then Javelot is a very good choice.
If you need a relatively small, easy-to-carry light that provides bright lighting over medium and long distances, the Javelot mini may be the one for you.
If you still don’t know which one to choose and just want to choose a flashlight with powerful, comprehensive performance, just choose Javelot!
Let’s understand the difference between the two!
Javelot VS Javelot Mini Size Comparison
Let’s take a look at the picture comparison first
It is obvious that Javelot Mini is smaller in size.
The length of the Javelot Mini is approximately 4.53 inches, while the Javelot is approximately 5.43 inches.
Although the total weight difference between the two is only 43 grams, this small and lightweight design makes the Javelot Mini more suitable for daily carrying and frequent use scenarios, and it is easy to put into a pocket or bag, bringing a more convenient experience.
Javelot VS Javelot Mini Performance Comparison
In terms of performance, lumens determine how bright a flashlight is. Javelot Mini provides you with 1000 lumens, while Javelot provides a maximum of 1350 lumens. As you can see from the picture, Javelot is brighter and details can be seen more clearly.
Candela largely determines the lighting distance of a flashlight. Javelot provides 134,000 candelas and can project 730m. Javelot Mini provides 88,320 candelas and can project 600m. The combination of a circular spotlight and flood light is very suitable for long-distance lighting.
The running time of a flashlight is a very important parameter when choosing a flashlight. Make sure you choose a flashlight with a long enough running time that can provide reliable lighting services at critical moments.
Javelot has a 5000mh 21700 rechargeable battery, which can provide 72 days of battery life at 0.5 lumens in moonlight mode and run for 20 hours at 150 lumens in the mid-range.
Javelot mini has a 2040mAh 18500 rechargeable battery that can run at the lowest 200 lumen setting for 297 minutes, about 4.95 hours.
Considering the battery life, if you often work outdoors, please choose Javelot directly!
Other performance parameters, such as the IPX8 waterproof rating, mean the flashlight can work in 2 meters of water for up to 30 minutes and has a 1.5 drop distance without fear of falling. Whether you choose Javelot or Javelot Mini, you can rest assured about the quality of Olight's products.
Javelot VS Javelot Mini Switch Comparison
Javelot and Javelot Mini flashlights use different switch designs. The main difference lies in the operation mode and functional features:
Javelot’s switch design:
Side switch: Located on the side of the flashlight, for normal and general use, ideal for one-handed holding.
Tail tactical switch: Located at the tail of the flashlight, it is usually used to directly turn on the strobe mode or as a quick operation for tactical applications.
Javelot Mini switch design:
Only side switch: Just use the side switch to operate various functions of the flashlight, including adjusting brightness and switching on and off.
Javelot's combination design allows users to more flexibly choose different operating modes. The side switch is suitable for daily use, while the tail tactical switch facilitates quick activation of strobe mode in an emergency.
Javelot Mini simplifies operation, and all functions can be completed through side switches, which is more suitable for the daily needs of ordinary users and avoids operational complexity.
Therefore, users can choose a suitable flashlight according to their own needs and habits. Whether a tail tactical switch is needed depends on personal preferences for the function and operation of the flashlight.
Javelot VS Javelot Mini Carry Comparison
In terms of portability, the Javelot comes in a variety of ways to carry it.
#1 Olight offers a holster. This time the case is a simple one without a USB-C charging port.
#2 Olight offers a removable pocket clip. By default, the pocket clip is not attached to the flashlight. There are two places to attach a pocket clip (see pictures), but if the clip is mounted near the tail cap, you cannot use the holster. However, you can still use the holster if you attach the clip near the head of the flashlight.
Please note: The Javelot does not have a lanyard attachment point.
The #3 flashlight has a built-in magnet on the tail cap that allows you to attach a magnetic charging cable or hang it on metal. This makes it more versatile
Since the Javelot mini only comes with a holster, it has no lanyard attachment points and no pocket clip. The only other way besides pocket carry, is to use the included holster. You clip the holster to your belt and away you go. This is probably the preferred way to carry it.
