A light for positive identification, a laser for precision aiming.
Gone are the days where a shooter needs a free hand to handle a flashlight while shooting in low light or no light. The Olight Baldr S Weapon Light incorporates an 800 lumen white light output in an extremely compact package. This 800 Lumens is the brightest compact pistol light on the market, but with a few tricks up its sleeve. Learn more!
Olight Baldr S Weapon Light Key Features
800 lumens in a compact pistol light was unheard of several years ago, but now Olight incorporates this light with an adjustable laser for precision aiming. The laser built into this light can output 5mW. Translation? This laser is one of the most powerful Weapon light lasers on the market, and will give you pinpoint accuracy for hundreds of yards. This laser is windage and elevation adjustable so you can mount it on virtually any weapon with a Picatinny rail and zero it to the type of ammo you’re using.
Speaking of mounts, the mounting system on this Baldr S is one of the most versatile mounts in existence! Gone are the days that shooters have to modify their lights or firearms to adjust where the light mounts. This ingenious mount has a QD lever to release the locking mechanism, but while unlocked, the light can be adjusted in dozens of different positions. This means a shooter with shorter fingers can slide the light right up to the trigger guard and access the controls without breaking or adjusting their grip. This also means someone with longer fingers can get the light way out on the rail so that their fingers aren’t cramped up. This also means that this light is one of the most adjustable lights so it can be used on a plethora of weapons. Whether you’re running it on a subcompact like an Sig X Macro, or running it on a large frame like a Glock 17L, this light can live on whatever platform uses a Picatinny rail!
But that’s not all, Olight is famous for its magnetic charging and this light doesn’t break from tradition. Built into the base of this unit is a small round charging surface. It’s as easy as slapping the magnetic charger on the base and forgetting it. Additionally I’ve seen some innovative holster manufacturers capitalizing on this charging port and designing a cutaway in their holsters. This is used to recharge the light without ever having to unholster creating a safer environment.
If that’s not enough perks, then look no further than Olights hassle free warranty process. Olight now offers a lifetime warranty on all their products so you can rest assured that if anything ever happens to your beloved Baldr S, that you will be taken care with the best customer service on the market!
How to Mount the Olight Baldr S Weapon Light
Finally we arrive at a short instructional section. Remember to unload and clear all firearms while working on installation. When removing the light from the package, you’ll have the main unit that is composed of the light itself and the mount, a charger, an adapter and an allen wrench. This adapter is used to transition between a Picatinny rail as well as a Glock rail. The Glock rail will fit all Picatinny rails but it will have slight movement fore and aft. If there is a slight amount of movement, just use the Allen wrench to remove two screws holding the Glock adapter and switch to the Picatinny adapter. You can store the adapter that’s not in use back inside the box for safe keeping.
Once you install the correct adapter for your rail, you’re ready to mount it to your firearm! To install, simply flip the QD lever forward into the open position. This will allow you to press on the QD lever, which will allow the clamp to open (it is spring loaded). While holding the clamp open, align your adapter piece to the Picatinny slot of your choice and press the clamp onto the selected slot. Let go of the QD lever and it should have enough tension to hold itself onto the firearm. From here, you can adjust how far forward or backward the light sits just by sliding the light inside the mount. Once you achieve your desired location, flip your QD lever back to the rear and you’re all set!
The last section of this blog is operation of the light. When the light arrives, it will only have a partial charge. Please ensure you’re fully charging the light before operation. Once the light has been fully charged, you’ll have access to the high mode (800 lumens), low mode (100 lumens), as well as the laser itself. To turn the light on, press down on either of the rocker switches on the rear of the light. This will activate the output mode selected on the switch. To change output modes, move the slider to the left or right. This will allow you to turn on either the light, the laser, or both the light and laser! Additionally you can change the output of the light by double clicking the rocker switch in rapid succession. This will allow you to toggle between high and low modes.
I hope this information is helpful to you and can be a quick start guide into the operation and usage of the Baldr S. Happy and safe shooting!
