One thing is for sure, Olight knows how to make a sturdy, compact EDC flashlight that you can rely on, and the newest up for review is no exception. The Olight Arkflex may be similar in size and brightness to the beloved Arkfeld but has capabilities totally unique to itself. From the slim, rounded body to the 90-degree articulating head, this intriguing little light is definitely worth checking out!
The most interesting feature of the Arkflex is the most obvious, and the first of its kind in the Olight lineup - the 90-degree flexible flashlight head. The hinge has been through rigorous swivel tests (10,000 to be exact), has no wires to worry about breaking or getting caught up, and can provide continuous, consistent lighting for the full 90-degree range of motion. The hinge has a sturdy feel that stays where you move it…meaning you can count on your Arkflex to stay pointed in the direction you need it with no drooping. Pair that with the powerful magnetic base, and you have total hands-free usage whenever you need it most.
The body of the flashlight itself feels extremely durable in your hand as well. Weighing in at only 3.56 ounces and 4.25 inches long, the Arkflex is exceptionally versatile in both design and function. It features an ergonomic grip and a metal side switch that is easy to locate, even in low-light conditions. The Arkflex may be compact, but there is nothing small about the power and brightness it provides. It boasts a maximum output of 1000 lumens with a throw of up to 85 meters and can last up to 10 days on a single charge. The five brightness levels and strobe mode make it more than suitable for whatever task or journey you find yourself on.
While speaking of durability, one of my favorite details of the Arkflex is the two-way pocket clip that spans almost the entire length of the flashlight. Not only is it longer than most of the clips of comparable-sized designs, but it feels more rugged and sturdy. From a personal standpoint, coming from a background in law enforcement, I was able to attach the Arkflex pocket clip through two Molle loops in my duty vest. Not only did it feel like it can fully withstand daily work life, but I’m confident it will hold firm in more strenuous situations also. When working in law enforcement, or in any high-stress/high-activity job, having an EDC you can count on to stay in place provides a little more peace of mind we can all benefit from.
The power and portability of the Arkflex can be useful in a wide array of scenarios. From everyday tasks at home, construction and repair work, outdoor adventures, to everyday carry and tactical usage - the options are truly endless. The sturdy, simplistic design along with the slim, subdued size are in my opinion, the best things about it. It has the power and brightness you would expect from any Olight flashlight, yet it is compact enough to toss in your pocket to have with you anywhere. Those two features alone would make the Arkflex a great flashlight, but with the new 90-degree flexible head, it has provided an inventive way to make your daily life, job, or hobby a little bit easier. One more example of the high-quality workmanship and innovative ideas you can rely on from Olight.
Here are Some Reviews From O-fans About Arkflex:
👤I have been using the Arkflex since the early access purchase. The main feature I like is the 90-degree articulation of the head. It comes in handy every time I want my hands free doing stuff and want the light pointed where I want it to be. The hinge is very sturdy and flexible. It’s a well-built light and practically disappears in your pocket. Been in my pocket since I got it.
👤I've had the Arkflex for months now since grabbing one on the Early Access. Two of my complaints were addressed before release which is great to see. The prototype Arkflex's power button is smaller and more difficult to easily locate. The general release's power button appears to be about twice the size which is awesome to see. The other was the prototype has a one-direction pocket clip and it really needs the dual clip to shine, which Olight also implemented. The UI is familiar, the rotating head really lets you get the light where you want it and most times, hands-free with the magnetic base or using the clip. Then, a little adjustment of the head and you're in business. Although the battery isn't replaceable, the run time and battery advancements don't have me worrying about being left in the dark any time soon. Unless I forget to charge it that is. Lol
👤I got the Arkflex Flex when it was a prototype, and I really like it. It has become one of my most used flashlights. The power output is good, the form factor (flat-ish) is great for the pocket, and mostly I love its ability to tilt. I often put it "upside down" on my backpack strap, then angle it towards my feet, and it works well like that. I think Olight has a hit on their hands with this design.
👤This is a great right-angle type work light. I use it mostly to work in electrical cabinets and on machinery at work. The magnetic base allows you to stick it to most metal surfaces, and the flexible head allows you to point it exactly where you're working so you aren't trying to pick between seeing and using your hands. The magnet is strong enough to easily hold the light horizontally or even upside down although not strong enough to put up much resistance to a blow from a slipped hand or wrench. So far the light has proven resilient, however, in spite of my clumsiness. My Arkflex has survived more than a few falls onto concrete from at least 6' without anything more than the expected scratch or ding. The light shines on as a daily work light for a maintenance technician in a manufacturing environment.
So glad to hear O-Fans enjoying the Arkflex flashlight! It's awesome how the 90-degree articulation of the head comes in handy when you need your hands free. Plus, the sturdy and flexible hinge makes it super convenient.
If you haven't tried it yet, I highly recommend getting your hands on the Arkflex. Trust me, you won't be disappointed. It's versatile, reliable, and perfect for various tasks.
