What is a tactical flashlight?
According to Wikipedia, "A tactical light is a flashlight used in conjunction with a firearm to aid low-light target identification, allowing the marksman, law enforcement officer or soldier to simultaneously aim a weapon and illuminate the target."
As the definition implies, these flashlights are designed for professional use by law enforcement, military, and security personnel. Usually, they are used with firearms. Sometimes these lights can also be fitted with a weapon with an aiming laser, like you see in many Hollywood movies. However, contrary to the Wikipedia definition above, these tactical lights do not necessarily have to be used in conjunction with a weapon to be considered a tactical light.
Olight has earned an excellent reputation for its customer-centric business philosophy and continuous improvement of its products. Engineers improve flashlights that work in real-life scenarios based on real-life tactics and user feedback. Multifunctional tactical flashlights including self-defense, weapon mount features, and silent switches provide soldiers, police, and security professionals around the world with a trusted flashlight tool.
Powerful and reliable LED light
The most valuable feature of any piece of equipment is reliability. That's why Olight uses super-strong materials like stainless steel and military-grade anodized aluminum to make each light. With precision-manufactured components, waterproof construction, and advanced technology, Olight ensures these lights will work when you need them. What’s more, Olight tactical flashlights offer some of the brightest outputs on the market. Whether you're on duty, blinding attackers, or camping outdoors, the Olight flashlight provides an even, bright beam to get the job done.
Brightest Flashlight
The first and most important feature of a tactical flashlight is powerful brightness. The brightness of a light is usually measured in lumens. The more lumens, the brighter the flashlight. Anything above 100 lumens will usually do the job, and most tactical flashlights these days are near or above the 1000 lumen level, which means they're pretty bright. Tactical flashlights are designed for law enforcement officers and must be bright enough to distract the vision of others so that they have to turn their heads or blindfold themselves. In more extreme cases, law enforcement officers may be temporarily blinded and disoriented in self-defense. Also, when combined with weapons, they are great for illuminating targets at night or in other dark scenes.
It's critical to make sure that your light will be 100% work when you need them. A tactical flashlight that can withstand extreme environments and still be effective is essential for most professions, especially when your life is at risk. It is also important that the flashlight hangs comfortably on a belt, vest, or pocket.
In an emergency, it needs to be both comfortable and provide a strong grip. Some lower-quality tactical lights may have a lot of cool features...but their power supply may not be as efficient. What is the use of a flashlight that can only be on for 10 minutes at high lumens? That's the benefit of the Olight flashlight's premium internal components.
Rechargeable Tactical Flashlight
Since the tactical flashlight is designed for law enforcement use, it should be able to complete a 12-hour or longer shift without running out of battery. If it does run out of power, it should be rechargeable. Therefore, longer run times and charging options are critical. Most flashlights used to have no charging port on the torch. Users have to remove the batteries, plug them into the charger, and put them back into the lamp. With the advancement of technology, many tactical lighting tools can now be recharged without the risk of draining batteries or water resistance issues. Rechargeable flashlights are now the norm, and many pro users are using them.
Rugged: hard shell, waterproof, shockproof
Tactical flashlights should be durable. As mentioned before, these flashlights are designed for professional use, so must be able to withstand the rigors of the harsh conditions in the field. Whether it's inclement weather or everyday use at work, these flashlights will suffer. Therefore, they should be both waterproof and shockproof.
There are three IPX ratings for the flashlight, which are as follows:
IPX4: This rating means that the flashlight can withstand water splashes that may result from heavy rain, etc.
IPX7: An IPX7 rating means the flashlight can be submerged in water about 1 meter deep for a short period of time, usually 30 minutes.
IPX8: The IPX8 rating allows the flashlight to be fully submerged in deeper water for at least a few hours before it starts to fail.
Based on your personal requirements, you can use these ratings to choose the right flashlight for your event.
Although the current tactical flashlights are generally relatively small, in this case, they must be able to be used for self-defense. For this reason, these flashlights typically have a stiffer end and often have a distinctive jagged edge, ideal for emergency combat. Not that we advocate violence, but that's just the reality of the day-to-day work of law enforcement, military, and security professionals. Sometimes a tactical torch is needed to eliminate a threat.
Conclusion: Tactical Flashlights Are Not Your Ordinary Flashlight
So, having said all that, it's safe to say that you now have a better understanding of what a tactical flashlight actually is. Also, it's clear that a tactical flashlight is no ordinary flashlight. These flashlights are of high quality, and while they are designed for professional use, they are also ideal for everyday carry or at home. At the same time, tactical flashlights have a high lumen generally. If the flashlight is not used for a long time, please set the flashlight to lock mode.
